Spa March 2017
The BookaTrack Spa Francorchamps trip in March is now an integral part of our track day calendar, and this year was certainly a success. Two busy days, plus outstanding weather made for exceptional track days.Distributed across two vehicles, staff made use of an early start on Saturday morning to head off on their respective routes. After a good run down to the tunnel, including a moment with a very distracting chai latte, we were soon on the other side and heading for the circuit.
Upon arrival, Saturday's event had finished just in time for us to execute our speedy set-up strategy, before retreating to the staff house.
After watching the weather reports all week, the promise of good weather certainly delivered. Sunday was a busy day, both on and off track. With maximum bookings, Kirsty barely escaped the sign on desk all day, with drivers and passengers arriving throughout.
Our new hire fleet had their first taste of Spa, with the 310R SV, 360R and 620R all on circuit. With many other Caterhams on circuit throughout the two days, they were in good company. Over the years our Spa events have also become popular with drivers local to the Ardennes-based circuit, some of which have become regular customers. As ever, we were pleased to see many familiar faces at the sign on desk each morning, as well as a number of new customers.
On Sunday evening many of our Platinum Members joined us for dinner. Some are longstanding members, some are new this year, but it was the perfect opportunity to get together and introduce everyone to what BaT is really about. For us, the relationship with our customers off track is just as important as it is on track.
Monday morning saw the sun shine over Eau Rouge once again, although a little colder first thing, it was clear we were heading for another nice day.
With just 11 new drivers at the start of the day, the briefing was somewhat quieter on Monday. With the briefing and sighting laps completed, the circuit was open for the morning session. A smooth morning led us straight into lunchtime, and another bout of complimentary soup and sandwiches, provided by the BaT catering team, were quickly devoured.
Despite two busy days on track, stoppages were very minimal, ensuring everyone enjoyed ample track time. The beautiful weather was an added bonus.
With little time to relax, our attentions now move swiftly onto our array of events here in the UK. We will return to Spa in July, with spaces still available for our summer double header. Then our focus switches to our Iberia trip in September. Visiting Estoril, Portimao and Jerez, this will certainly be a highlight on our 2017 calendar.
