At BookaTrack.com Ltd - we use only the best ARDS instructors available. Over the years we have formed a core of instructors who cover all of our track days between them, ensuring consistency of quality and continuity for our regular customers.
Anyone more serious about improving their driving should consider a more structured approach to coaching. Everyone can benefit from tuition - even the F1 drivers have personal coaches - and working with the same instructor time and time again can massively increase confidence, consistency and of course, speed.
If you want more information about either exclusive use of one of our instructors, or shared use with a friend, please contact us for a price and availability.
The price for instruction is £50 per 20 minute session and on full day events you get a free PM session included in this fee. During the 20 minute session the instructor will sit in the passenger seat of your car and offer advice on matters such as driving technique, corner speed and circuit specific information. After the session they will provide a short de-brief.
For customers renting a Caterham R300 or 620R the hire includes one AM and one PM session for full day hires and one session for an evening session hire. Please add these at the time of booking to ensure you get your preferred time slot. For hires of a Caterham Academy car or a Porsche GT3 an instructor is included in the hire for the full day.
We are so confident in our instructors ability to get you round the circuit quicker, smoother and safer, that we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you do not feel you have learned anything from our instructor - just let us know and get a full £50 refund.

Stuart comes from a single-seater background, with race wins and fastest laps in a number of different categories. A highly succesful racer in a number of different cars, Stuart is also the most multi-talented ARDS instructor we know. His other jobs include radio commentating, bespoke high-end eyewear design and class 1 truck driver!
Always popular with the clients, Stuarts relaxed but thorough approach is well suited to all levels of experience, from novices through to seasoned racers.
As with Christian, Stuart has many other strings to his bow and we're very lucky to have him on the team.Tweets by Stuart Jones
David has been instructing since 2000 and has coached drivers in everything from a Ford Fiesta hired from Enterprise to a Lamborghini Aventador and all points in-between! He instructs on school days, track days, corporate days, manufacturer launches and also offers one to one coaching. He has worked at most of the UK circuits, but his favourite is Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium (isn't it everyone's?!).
He also currently mentors and coaches a local driver who competes in the North West Formula Ford Series and David prepares and manages his car for each race. David comes from a family steeped in motorsport history: starting with his grandfather and more latterly his father who competed in Formula Ford, Formula Three & Formula Atlantic. David has been fortunate enough to visit, compete and instruct at many UK circuits. He has 30 years experience as a Sales Executive in the retail motor trade, the last 5 years employed by BMW/Mini.
David began competing in sprints & hillclimbs in 1985 using a Special Saloon Mini running on methanol! He then graduated to single seaters and began a long running association with Formula Ford 1600. David still holds the class records at Harewood hillclimb & Aintree both of which have stood for over 10 years. He began circuit racing his Formula Ford in 1997 and in 2007 won the North West FF1600 pre-1990 Championship outright, having pipped fellow BaT instructor and long-time friend Stuart Jones in a tense final round.Tweets by David Bailey
Scott had his first kart at 5-years-old and began racing cars by 16. Whist still a teenager, Scott won the EuroBOSS series twice - F3000 and F1 - taking 5 outright lap records at circuits throughout Europe along the way. In 2004 he was nominated for the BRDC's prestigious McLaren Autosport 'Young Driver of the Year' Award, eventually losing out to Force India's Paul di Resta. After testing with Christian Horner's Arden International GP2 team, Scott found it difficult to obtain large amount of funding needed for the following season and so competed in various IRL IndyLights meetings in the USA. Scott now focuses his race driving on the development of ex-F1 machinery and his ambitions to drive at Le Mans.
Whilst coaching Scott maintains a calm and professional approach both in and out of the car, assessing competence and confidence levels quickly and accurately. His instructions are clear and simple yet precise, so drivers will not get overloaded with information. Scott also has a very technical background and enjoys coaching at advanced levels, having the ability to concisely explain how to get the most out of any car.
Whilst the majority of his race experience has been with slicks and wings (F1 and sports prototypes), Scott is also very experienced with Ferrari race cars, Porsches and Caterhams (road and race).Tweets by Scott Mansell
David da Costa
David is a Grade 'S' ARDS instructor with many *many* many years instructing and racing experience. David was racing back in the days when motor racing was dangerous but sex was safe.. In the past he's helped a few drivers who have gone on to do very well such as Ari Vatanen, Bruno Senna and Marko Asmer to name a few. As well as winning a major British Saloon Car Championship, David has held lap records in both Britain and Europe. He's also a class winner in the European Touring Cars when he raced for Ford.
Davids proudest acheivement is that he's never hit anyone on a circuit accidentally- read into that what you will! One of Davids most redeeming features is his desire to pass on his experience without being 'superior' or condescending. His favourite circuit is Mallory Park ('because of Gerrards') and least favourite (the word he used was 'scary') is the old road circuit at Brno in Czechoslovakia.
Favourite bands are Iron Butterfly and Its A Beautiful Day. An ex rugby player, David used to scout for Bath rugby and count several international players as friends. David was also a boxing champ as a child and his elder brother was English schools boxing champ and world grand masters judo champ. He's married to June and has 3 children. His least credible incident is the time he got told off by an RAC steward for mooning on lap of honour at Brands Hatch. I think this tells you enough about this particular old timer!
We first met Simon when he was the chief instructor at Rockingham in 2003. He has worked with us at Book a Track almost every year since.
Simon has been a motor racing instructor since 1989 and is recognised by both ARDS and the APDI at their top levels. He was graded as an Elite instructor at Silverstone and still counts Aston Martin and many successful racing drivers and teams amongst his customers. Simon has 3 Championship titles and numerous other motorsport successes behind him.
Unlike most racing instructors, Simon has built and ran many of the cars he’s raced from British GT to Production Saloons. He understands, budgetary limits and the realities of taking any car on track and how to get the most out of both from first hand experience. This broad, in depth knowledge of cars and motorsport helps him deliver added value to our customers.
In 2014 Simon will be racing in various Heritage Touring Car Series around Europe for customers in original and very valuable cars.Tweets by Simon Mason
