Introducing our newest member of the BaT TeamGreetings readers! The team at BookaTrack hope you have had a great start to the New Year!
We are excited to begin 2015 introducing our newest member of the BaT staff Kirsty Marriott. Kirsty officially joined our team earlier this month as our Events Coordinator. Here's a brief introduction in her own words...
So I would like to introduce myself, I am 24, and originally come from Cambridgeshire. I have previously worked in the events industry, but coordinating food related events such as markets, food & drink festivals, beer festivals and music festivals.
I have a very creative background, when I was growing up my mother worked for Warner Brothers as an animator. She worked on feature films such as the original Snowman (1982) and Space Jam (1996), so I was bought up encouraged to pursue my natural creative ability.
I studied product design, fine art, printmaking, life drawing, ceramics and photography at college and then went on to do my degree in Graphic Design at Nottingham Trent University.
Outside of my educational life I have always been an adventurer by nature, growing up in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere, meant I was always outdoors exploring, walking, cycling, and camping.
I am a keen scuba diver. I am fascinated by the world that lives beneath the sea. There is something about being able to breathe underwater and float neutrally buoyant which I cannot get enough of!
I have been lucky enough to travel to a number of exciting countries around the world, Japan, Malaysia, Italy & USA to name a few. I have a passion for meeting new people and learning about different cultures.
In 2012 I went on a road trip from San Francisco to New York stopping off at 15 destinations along the way. My top two destinations on that trip:
Monument Valley (Landscape)
I went on an overnight jeep tour across Monument Valley which was organised by the local Navajo Tribe, although they had accommodated for tourists, it was an incredible trip. We stopped off at a number of famous sites throughout the day (Suns Eye, Ear of the Wind and Eagle Eye). The huntsman had been out hunting, so it was steak on the menu for dinner. Later in the evening when the sun had gone down, we were told ancient stories about the Gods and we sang and danced around the fire until the early hours under the beautiful night sky. Being so open you could see 360 degrees of sky leading off into the distance, millions of stars shining so clearly and bright. I was even lucky enough to see a few shooting stars. Around 5:00/5:30am we made our way to the famous stack formation Totem Pole for the sunrise. The most breathtaking sunrise I have ever seen over a spectacular orange sandy landscape with wild horses in the distance. What could get better than that?!
New Orleans (City)
It just so happened that we stopped off in New Orleans over my birthday. Sunshine, beautiful French architecture, the kindest and most endearing local people, delicious jambalaya and a wealth of musical talent. The atmosphere when walking down Bourbon Street in the evening was something else, with live music performances in every bar, it is certainly a place to experience if you enjoy Jazz or Blues music!
My dad once told me,
Its not money and material possessions that makes you rich...
Its experiences and opportunities to travel and learn which make your life richer
2015 I start my new chapter with BookaTrack, with a very busy calendar year I cannot wait to get stuck in with the planning of some of our bigger European events such as Magny Cours & Dijon Prenois in May and our trip to Valencia and Barcelona in September.
I have always craved a high pressured and challenging work environment, this is what drew me to this particular kind of events field.
I am excited to be involved in such a vibrant fast paced industry and hopefully my creative flair will come in handy with the opportunity to design some of the new merchandise, information packs and signs.
I hope to meet you all at some of our events this year!
